Every End Is A New Beginning
To say the past year has been an adventure would be an understatement. In the last 12 months, we got married, quit our jobs, rented our home out, packed our lives into backpacks, traveled to 16 countries, and somewhere along the way…we made a baby!
We learned the news in early July, and it sure made the last month of the trip an interesting one. We couldn’t abandon the wine tours that had already been planned out, so Kevin had to buck up and drink for two (it was a struggle, for both of us!). Christine didn’t feel great all of the time, so a few long hikes became short hikes, or no hikes at all.
We’ve been home for three weeks, and we’re still getting caught up on doctor’s appointments. We know for sure that there’s a baby inside Christine’s belly, and he or she is due in March!
Christine finally got around to changing her name…hello Mrs. Slifer! Kevin has been getting back to his daily morning runs. We’ve been slowly catching up with all of the family and friends who we’ve missed dearly, including two babies who were born while we were away (a.k.a. baby Chevin’s future friends). We may have also slipped in a getaway to the beach. Did you really think we would quit traveling cold turkey?
So what does the next chapter hold? Well, there’s still a tenant living in our home until the end of November. We’re rooming up with Christine’s parents until then, but we’re already thinking about what baby Chevin’s room is going to look like. We’re both evaluating what lies ahead for us in our careers. Kevin’s brother Darren and our soon-to-be sister-in-law Erin are getting hitched this weekend. This is the reason we ended our trip when we did (believe it or not, we wanted to go longer), and we’re looking forward to their big day!
And just like that, it’s back to the real world. It’s been an amazing journey, and we’re so excited that we were able to share it with everyone. Thank you for following along!
